Whirlpool Fridge-Freezer Service Bulletins

Red “Door Ajar” icon is lit on the Dispenser UI and beeps LED lights may not shut off. Refrigerator may not maintain set temperatures. Ice maker may not make ice. Water dispenser may not function.

Wire harness tears, frays, or breaks.

No Ice or erratic ice production.

Moisture or frost build up around the ice cube door

The Touch Sensor User Interface may fail to power up if the refrigerator loses power or the Cool- ing Off feature has been initiated. This is most likely to occur when the refrigerator is at a low temperature. (typically below 37°F) The customer will not encounter the fault unless the Cooling Off and On is cycled again. Pressing the Cooling On/Off button while in this failure mode can cause all the lights on the User Interface to briefly flash but not stay on. Upon recovery, the User Interface may typically flash the Over Temperature indicator and will operate normally.

Service update

Refrigerator Temperature too cold.

Testing has determined there is a potential that the water valve body may deteriorate and begin to leak. This deterioration may be caused by chlorine, impurities in the water supply, water flow issues or a combination of those factors.

Service is often requested because ice cubes are sticking or clumping together. In a lot of the these cases there is no problem with the refrigerator or ice maker, it’s simply a matter of customer usage or ambient conditions. An explanation of the causes of this complaint are outlined below.

ADC’s, adaptive defrost controls – Ice may build up on evaporator over a period of time due to incomplete defrost cycles resulting in warm temperatures.
