The ice formation will appear larger closer to the evaporator cover. Inspection may lead to diagnosis of an open drain pan heater allowing the drain pan to overflow and fill with ice. Additionally, ice may have formed around or on the evaporator fan blade: a result of moisture dripping off the evaporator wiring harnesses, suction tube, or evaporator compartment ceiling.
