The electronic control board can’t detect the position of the diverter valve.
24″ Microfiltration Dishwashers (square sump) – Not draining. If F7E1 or F7E4 is also recorded the wash pump may be at fault. The control uses the wash motor signal to verify drain so a failed wash motor can cause a drain fault to be detected.
Whirlpool Dishwasher F9-E1 Error Code Error Code Possible Causes
- The diverter valve is defective.
- The diverter valve position switch is defective.
- Loose wire connectors.
- The main PCB is defective.

- The drain pump is defective.
- The drain pump is clogged.
- The drain hose is clogged.
- Loose wire connectors.
- The Main PCB is defective.
- Wash motor problem if F7-E1 is also recorded. Control uses wash motor signal to verify drain so a failed wash motor can cause a drain fault to be detected.
