Electrolux / Frigidaire Dryer: Stops tumbling after a few seconds.

The customer may complain that the dryer starts but pauses the cycle and stops tumbling after a few seconds. No error code is displayed.

Activate service mode and check for stored error codes.

If an E53 error is stored don’t replace the motor or control board without checking the heater circuit first.

Electric Dryer E53

The E53 error code on Electrolux or Frigidaire electric dryers may be caused by an open in the heating circuit. Most of the time an open element on single element heaters.

The only feedback to the control board for the centrifugal switch comes from the L2 heating circuit. Any loss of L2 voltage between the power supply and the main board would simulate an open centrifugal switch, set an E53 and turn off the motor.

Gas Dryer E53

The E53 error code on Electrolux or Frigidaire gas dryers may be caused by an open in the heating circuit.

The only feedback to the control board for the centrifugal switch comes from the Neutral through the heating circuit. Any loss of N between the power supply and the main board would simulate an open centrifugal switch, set an E53 and turn off the motor.
