Symptom(s)
After installing main control board WH22X32357 the user interface is dead. LEDs do not illuminate, buttons do not respond, the model personality ID cannot be set manually, and the heartbeat LED on the main control board is flashing.
Possible Cause(s)
Main control board WH22X32357 (especially units with shipping-box date code 3/2/2022 or later) will not accept manual personality programming. The board is powered and the heartbeat is present, but the UI remains locked out until the correct personality is written by SmartHQ Service or the board is exchanged for the corrected part.
Diagnostic Procedure
- Install the new main control board and restore power to the washer.
- Confirm the heartbeat LED on the board is flashing.
- If it is not flashing, check for a shorted component that is holding the board in a fault state.
- Connect SmartHQ Service (and the appropriate appliance service tool) to the washer.
- Enter the exact full model number of the machine you are servicing.
- SmartHQ Service will display an ALERT stating that the personality must be set.
- Confirm that the model number shown matches the washer ID tag, then select SET PERSONALITY.
- SmartHQ Service writes the correct personality based on the model number entered.
- Cycle power and test for normal UI response and full cycle operation.
Recommended Repair
- Use SmartHQ Service and an appliance service tool to program the model personality ID.
- If SmartHQ Service is not available, replace the board with the updated part WH22X35137.
- Return every WH22X32357 main control board that carries a shipping-box date code of 3/2/2022 or later through your normal parts-return process.
- The date code is printed at the bottom-right corner of the shipping-box label.
